Shall is a local, spec-driven control plane for AI coding agents: the specification is a graph of markdown files inside your own repository, and every judgement over it stays yours. These three documents are the reference for what that means in practice. If you have not installed it yet, Get started is the shorter path — install, shall init, and one command to your agent.

Architecture

What Shall is made of: the four planes of the spec graph, the arithmetic computed on every read, the files on disk, and the daemon, web and CLI that sit over them.

CLI commands

Every shall command, grouped by the three you type yourself and the rest the agent processes run: opening the app, setting up a project, reading it, writing to it.

Agent commands

The seven processes an agent session runs inside a Shall project — specify, plan, work, raise and the rest — each spelled for Claude Code and for Codex.
